Essay on How Technology has made the world a better place to live in

Technology has made the world a better place to live in.
Technology has been one of the most researched field that has inculcated tremendous advancements and modifications in the recent years. The pace with which the technology has been improving and outliving the expectations of the people has indeed provided a great scope to the mankind to perform tasks that they would have once thought were not even possible. There has been inventions that have revolutionized the life of the people and the way they live their life has been modified in a tremendous and drastic way (Powell & Dent‐Micallef, 1997).
There are multiple opinions from the people that debate about whether the development of technology is a boon or a curse to the mankind. Experts and researchers have provided their opinions and also debated on the above topic. This mix of opinions exists due to the increase in the crime and violence that have resulted due to the invention of new technologies and modifications in the existing ones. This may involve the use of the internet, mobile phones for their wicked perspectives by the people and the advancement in technology have provided them with many more advantages to execute their wicked acts more easily. This has increased the level of crimes in the countries across the world. But it does not mean that the advancement in technology has been a curse to the mankind because of its large number of advantages that it has in changing the lives of the people in a positive way (Oram, 2001).
Arguments in favour of the position:
There are many significant contributions of technology in improving the way of living which we are going to observe below. The most significant configuration is the ability of technology to make this world a really small place by connecting each and every place through the click of a button. This refers to the invention of Internet that has helped to connect people all across the globe in a very convenient and flexible manner. The use of internet has contributed to the entire process of marketing in the world and it has also helped to reach each and every corner of the world in a rapid and convenient way .
Technology has also brought about a revolution in the means of communication with the development of various mobile feature and apps like skype, WhatsApp, vibe, etc. There has been a huge improvement in the socialization of the people due to the connectivity that they get with quick access to the social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter through their cell phones (Bijker & Hughes, 2012). The technologies that are developed in cell phones have made it a multi-purpose product that performs the functions of a computer, music player, camera, navigation system, and media sharing. This has increase the ease with which communication is done between the people.
The advancement in the transport technology has made it possible for the man to travel to any place across the world (Belcher, 2014). It has also satisfied the people by making transportation of goods across the nations at a very rapid pace and this has ensured that the customers get their favourite products right from the original producer which is in other country (Qualman, 2013). Transportation has provided a lot of opportunities to the people in terms of their business expansion and smooth execution of the business. Technology has made it possible for the people to explore and feel the world to its fullest.
The industries have been influenced on a large scale due to technology that has helped in increasing the production within a short time and thereby, providing a scope to the organization for greater growth and expansion (Arora & Gambardella, 1994). This has been possible due to the development of automation and highly technical machines that have provided a huge advantage to the industries in the manufacturing market (Qualman, 2013).
The invention of new medicines and machines for identifying and treating various forms of illness and deadly diseases that has earlier caused losses of large number of lives of the people (Neumann & Tunis, 2010). It has made possible to treat people from the diseases that were considered incurable or very tough to cure since ages like Cancer, Tuberculosis, Cholera, Malaria, etc.
Innovations in technology has provided large number of comforts to the humans in fulfilling the various kind of tasks that he does. It has also contributed in improvement of the quality of luxuries that have been provided to man and has completely taken it to an altogether different level of living (In pursuit of a diverse science, technology, engineering, and mathematics workforce: Recommended research priorities to enhance participation by underrepresented minorities, 2001.).
Thus, we observe that there are two options or choices available to the people while using technology. One involves the use of technology for good causes and purposes that would benefit the mankind, whereas, the other perception involves considering the negative side of using the technology for wicked intentions that would harm the interests of humanity.
However, taking the entire mankind on the whole, there has been a much uniform and larger contribution of the technology in improving the life and standards of the people across the globe. Technology has revolutionized the life of the humans from the way he lives to the tasks that he performs daily to fulfil his requirements and needs. It can be termed that, technology, has in the true sense made this world a better place to live in.
