Introduction

“Lost Time is never found again” (Franklin, 1983)
Time is a vital resource in any scenario. It is limited in quantity, dynamic in nature and of an irrecoverable ilk. The limited quantity of time arises from the fact as the amount of time available is 34 hours in any given day, it is dynamic because it is manageable and it remains irrecoverable as one cannot go back in time to change it. (Bluedorn, 2002) Even in an organizational perspective, where there are a myriad of processes being run by many people performing different activities. In this scenario, time becomes very precious as many people are utilizing their time towards a unified goal and any wastage in time will delay the achievement of that goal resulting in losses or below target achievements.
The scarcity and immense utility of time makes it very crucial that time is properly managed. A lot of efforts are made in daily life and in an organization “to save time” which gives a perception about how valuable time is. Another insightful thing about time applicable for individuals as well as managers is that one cannot stock up on time, buy it or giver it on rent but one can save time by managing it efficiently. (Bregman, 2013)
Time Management

Time Management is the coordination or activities and events by recognizing the time taken by the activities and modifying the events which can be a hindrance to the smooth execution of the activities. (Adu-Oppong, Agyin-Birikorang, Darko, & Aikins, 2014)
The concept of time management is not perceived correctly by most individuals causing a loss of time in many situations despite the attempts to manage it effectively. The correct course of action for time management is that doing multiple things in a fixed frame of time is not important but doing the important things first is the right way to achieve a sense of time management. This activity of prioritizing covers both personal and professional aspects of an individual’s life. The concept of time management comprises of a set of skills and principles which helps individuals or employees achieve specific goals. Learning how to manage time should not be an additional skill but as a necessary skill needed to organize all the processes in every department. (Ojukuku & Kehinde, 2011)
Time Management in Etisalat

Etisalat is one of the leading telecom companies in UAE. Being a huge service sector company, a large no. of employees work under the company and the organization undergoes many processes in various departments. Etisalat does not have involvement in manufacturing, which means that Etisalat can make itself time-efficient in the operational aspect of work which would further optimize the tasks and processes going on all over the organization. (Etisalat, 2013)
At the crux of the strategy of Etisalat, there lies three pillars on which it relies to strive further. Etisalat is very specific in detail about the content of these pillars and bases their success on one and one thing only: efficiency and effectiveness in operational processes. The key to achieve this is to meticulously formulate the internal operations in such a way that high productivity can be obtained from work, innovation can be achieved and growth can be sustained and increased, all of which Etisalat aims to do in its strategy. (Premium TImes, 2013)
Making operations fast and smooth primarily requires the operations to be time-efficient and time effective. Time Management is an easy and effective way to enhance the productivity in an organization. In the same way, as the organizations strive to achieve goals by maintaining a certain level of performance; the utilization of time management is essential for achieving higher performance levels. (Robinson, Goleby, & Hosgood, 2006) There are many things that come across in the light of daily activities which arise due to a lack of time management. Frequent delays are caused due to the lack time management which can also affect other processes connected with the activities. (Hellsten, 2012)

Time management can assume the role of a powerful tool for achieving organizational objectives regardless of the amount of work decreasing pressure in the work environment. Etisalat can truly experience an environment of smooth operations and work execution without delays through effective and efficient time management which will ultimately lead Etisalat to higher productivity and achievement of goals.
After reflecting upon the pros of time management the next element that comes to light is the actual adaptation of time management in Etisalat. Etisalat can apply time management in an organization through training for employees to expertly adopt time management skills. In this training, time should be projected as an asset which can be used productively to achieve targets and organize work for smoother operations. The biggest factor of necessity in time management is that every kind of company big or small, needs time management and Etisalat can definitely adopt the virtues of time management and optimize its processes.
Efficiency and Effectiveness

Both the terms efficiency and effectiveness are often attached with an activity of measuring performance of an individual or an organization. It is to be clarified what exactly efficiency and effectiveness are when it comes to the work or product of a company.
Efficiency is perceived as measure for resources which utilized to complete a process to determine if the right amount of resources were used. The completion of a process achieved in the minimum amount of time and using minimal resources will be granted a factor of efficiency. (Burrows, 2015)
Effectiveness is a term to determine whether the exact objectives behind the creation of the process were achieved. (Burrows, 2015)
Efficient Time Management

Time management concentrates on areas which can be improved to increase smoothness of operations through an increased flexibility in the factor of time. Time is always taken as an asset and also a resource which is to be used in an optimized manner to enhance productivity. Efficient time management projects the objectives of organizing operations in a manner which would make more time available for activities. Essentially, efficient time management is about saving time for proper completion and execution of activities. Etisalat does work on improving their operations and efficient time management is they right way to reduce cost, and increase profits. (OKOLO, 2012)
Efficient time management can be done by executing the work as soon as possible avoiding delays, through effective delegation, excluding unnecessary activities and postponing important but less urgent work. There are certain factors which hinder effective time management like procrastination of work, lack of proper delegation of work, interruption and the most important one being the lack of planning out of activities.

Effective Time Management

Effective time management is a concept which focuses on the factor that the most important processes are done first thus improving the overall quality of work getting done. This makes the work being done effectively and with precision avoiding fallbacks and errors. The goal of effective time manage is to coordinate activities through time management in way that activities are assigned levels of urgency and importance enabling the factor of flexibility and a higher level of decisiveness. (Adu-Oppong, Agyin-Birikorang, Darko, & Aikins, 2014)
The secret of effective time management lies in the proper usage of prioritization of activities. Prioritization is the effective delegation of activities on the basis of urgency and importance which leads to a clarity of work processes and facilitates proper planning of activities. This is done to avoid lag of work and decrease in productivity. Effective prioritization requires a proper classification between urgent and important activities. Important activities are the ones which contain an outcome which can take Etisalat closer to its objectives. The employees of Etisalat can utilize the Eisenhower’s principle to effectively prioritize activities through processes calibrated keeping time management. (Odumeru, 2013)
Conclusion

Etisalat aims to reduce cost, save time, and bring flexibility in its processes to achieve its goals. All of this can be done through efficient and effective time management. Through efficient time management, less resources are utilize which would lead to reduction in cost. Effective time management leads to prioritization leading the operations to complete the essential tasks first. This leads to extensive time saving. And finally through proper use of time management, tasks can be delegated effectively which reduces pressure and brings flexibility into operations.
An amalgamation of effective and efficient time management can done by applying focus on least possible activities at a time which will provide precision in the work done and will allow more time for other activities as the prioritized activities can be done quickly with a higher amount of focus. After prioritizing, the processes and activities have to be scheduled which will provide an area of effective delegation. Effective and efficient usage of time management will provide a higher level of effectiveness and productivity to Etisalat.
